  • J.D. in Sports Law – Marquette University Law School, 1996
  • B.S. in Politics and Government – Ripon College, 1992

Career Highlights:

I’ve authored numerous books and articles on sports business and sports law. I’ve also worked in the industry for over seven years as a consultant at virtually all levels of sport. I served as chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin Sport & Entertainment Law Section. I’m also proud to have been nominated several times for UW-Parkside Teacher of the Year.

  • What do you want your students to take away from class?

    The knowledge and skills necessary to develop and maintain a long-lasting career, including the ability to continue learning after the class is complete.

  • Why did you start teaching?

    I started teaching as an adjunct instructor and discovered I enjoyed helping students achieve their dream of building a career in sports.

  • What advice would you give to your future online students?

    Focus on learning the material, not the grade. Life is rarely run on a rubric. If you learn the material, good grades typically follow. Start early. Ask questions if you are uncertain about the material or the assignment.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

    “Fun Is Good: How to Create Joy and Passion in Your Workplace and Career” by Mike Veeck and Pete Williams

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know about you.

    I’ve attended games in more than 75 baseball stadiums around the country.
