  • What do you want your students to take away from class?

Students will possess an understanding of the digital and global marketplace and be able to adapt to its many changes. They will gain skills needed to perform vital daily functions to industry standard. Upon completion, students should be able to walk into any company with an online and/or global presence and improve their effectiveness. Mastery of course materials is defined as demonstrated ability to apply concepts and perform tasks to industry standard.

  • What advice would you give to your future online students?

Plan your time well and well in advance, including making sure you have connectivity daily.

  • What is the value of an MBA?

Only an MBA truly provides the skills required to lead and manage organizations in today's complex and rapidly changing world.

  • Why did you start teaching?

I once heard that the Chinese say "you live your adult lives in thirds" and I truly have. I worked in the corporate world for 14 years with Nabisco brands, Motorola, and AC Nielsen in marketing and business development. I then ran my own business for eight years, selling to major retailers in Eastern Canada and the U.S. I fell into teaching by accident when I began filling in on a few night courses. It rapidly became my passion, so I returned to do my Ph.D. at 46 to make it a third career. Overall, I’ve been in teaching in academia for 18 years. It's never too late!

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

I like anything by John Irving. I am a little different, I guess.

  • What do you do when you need a laugh?

Other than keeping up with political news the last few years, I also enjoying walking my Chiweenie dog, Cujo, in the local park. He is always a topic of conversation.

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know.

I was on a Canadian quiz show called "Jackpot" for a week in 1987. It reran on the USA Network for a number of years. I answered 11 questions in a row and won $2,400 but missed the last question for a brand new 1987 Hyundai XL.
